Plan is a verb, and it's regular. "We're planning a surprise party for Cynthia." It's also a noun: plan is the thing and planning is the process. Here is an example: "Our planning was excellent, and the plan worked perfectly." A plan can be a physical object, like the drawing here, or a series of steps that you have in writing or in your mind.
